Project GRANDD Support Groups
Welcome to our Project GRANDD (Grandparents and others Raising And Nurturing Dependents with Disabilities) Community – a warm embrace for those who give selflessly. At ISDD, we understand the unique journey of grandparents and other relatives raising children outside the foster care system, and we're here to offer you more than just support; we're here to create a family of understanding, resilience, and shared experiences.
🌟 Why Join Our Support Groups?
-
Empathy in Every Connection: Our virtual and in-person support groups provide a safe haven for you to share your joys, challenges, and wisdom with like-minded individuals who truly understand the intricacies of grandparent caregiving.
-
Tailored Guidance: Receive expert advice and valuable resources crafted specifically for grandparents and other relatives navigating the complexities of raising a new generation. Our sessions are led by professionals sensitive to the unique needs of grandfamilies.
-
A Shoulder to Lean On: Sometimes, a virtual hug or a reassuring nod is all you need. Our community is built on mutual respect and genuine care, fostering connections that go beyond the screen and into the hearts of those who truly get it.
-
Interactive Workshops: Engage in enriching virtual workshops and in-person events designed to enhance your caregiving skills, ensuring you're well-equipped to provide the best support for your grandchildren.
-
Celebrate Milestones Together: From the smallest victories to significant milestones, our community is here to celebrate the joys of grandparenting. Share your achievements and find encouragement in every step forward.
🌈 Virtual or In-Person – Your Choice!
Choose the support format that suits your lifestyle best. Join our virtual meetings from the comfort of your home, or attend our in-person gatherings for a chance to connect face-to-face with fellow grandparent caregivers in your community. See sidebar on the right for support group locations, times and dates.
👧🏽👦🏻 Kids and Teens In-Person Groups:
For your grandchildren, we have separate in-person support groups tailored to the unique needs of children and teens. Let them forge bonds with peers who understand their experiences, creating a support system that extends beyond your own.
🚸 Childcare for Little Ones:
We understand the importance of making our support groups accessible. That's why we offer childcare services for children under 8 years of age during our in-person evening meetings, ensuring you can fully engage in the support and connection while knowing your little ones are in good hands.
🍵🍽️ Refreshments and Dinner Included:
To make our gatherings even more enjoyable, we serve refreshments during all support group sessions. For our evening support groups, join us for a light dinner served between 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm, creating a relaxed and nourishing environment for meaningful connections.
🚗💲 Transportation Assistance:
We're committed to breaking down barriers. To help overcome transportation challenges, we offer a $5.00 transportation subsidy, ensuring that distance is never an obstacle to your participation.
